“As we head into
2009, I’m sure there is universal acceptance that a general business
slowdown of large proportions will affect our lives for the next few
years. In our business and personal lives major adjustments will
certainly ensue, and my hope is that coming out the other end, we’ll
be in a better space.
Two recent
developments have helped me to feel very optimistic (there’s that
word, again!) about GWC’s resilience. Leading up to Christmas, all
divisions engaged in a “friendly game” to raise support for Food
Banks and other local agencies. Kudos to the winners – Edmonton,
again showing Championship form, and congratulations to all
divisions for making a real contribution! The spirit of gratitude
and sharing is a very important component of a happy place. In
November, GWC was chosen one of eleven finalists amongst southern
Alberta companies in the “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies”
competition. The country wide Best 50 will be announced in early
February, so stay tuned. Just to be named one of the Alberta
finalists though, is confirmation to us that GWC is seen in a very
positive light by the panel of judges who evaluate thousands of
firms to boil it down to the 50 Best. We have reason to be proud and
feel good about the future!
TO ALL EMPLOYEES:
Thank-you for helping to make a difference. Our Core Values
are percolating through the organization and all is well!! “
