Winnipeg
This
edition of Winnipeg’s Newsletter is dedicated to Brian Gilles.
Brian Michael Gillies
At the age
of 43 years
Born
October 16th, 1964
Passed to
Eternal Rest
March 4th,
2008
From his family:
“Because of
you, our own small world will never be the same, and all our hearts are
filled with love when people speak your name.
But though
your face may not be seen among us here today, your heart is felt in all the
hearts you changed along the way.”

Brian worked as
a pot cleaner for Great Western Containers for 3 years and will be sorely
missed. Never one to burden others, Brian was always smiling and kind; a real
gift to friends and co-workers alike. Contributions to The Children’s Hospital
in Winnipeg were dedicated in his name.
News from the
Plant:
The safety focus in Winnipeg recently has been footwear.
“Feet may be low
down on the body, but they shouldn't be low down on your list of personal
protective equipment (PPE) priorities. Healthy, injury-free feet are essential
for daily comfort and a worker's ability to do the job—no matter what kind of
work is involved. Damage to a bone, ligament, or muscle in the foot can be very
painful and make it difficult or impossible for injured employees to stay on
their feet and perform their jobs. Unfortunately, there are a lot of foot
hazards in most workplaces.” Sourced from Manitoba Safety and Health.
GWC in Winnipeg
welcomes to the fold (from left to right) Pedro Ramos, Milton White, Colin
Wright and Pankaj Nanda.

Terry Critch
celebrated 27 years with Great Western Containers in January this year. The
greatest gift to grandkids the world has ever seen, Terry’s generous nature to
friends, family and co-workers along with his fun loving personality makes him a
pleasure to be around every day.

Now on to the Unbelievable News Section!
Randy Empringham, our fearless leader,
was married in a quiet ceremony on March 16th, 2008 to his girlfriend
of two years, Lydia Davis. Lydia and Randy were introduced by Lil shortly after
Randy arrived here in Winnipeg. Lydia is tall, beautiful and has a calm
demeanor. They are both the strong-silent type and share of love of country
living, gardening and outdoor activities. Congratulations and we wish them all
the best!
Lydia and Randy
Jaden, Randy’s granddaughter, and Randy’s new dog
Spike.
Lastly but no
less important was Carthy’s visit in May to help our Warehouse team arrive into
the 21st century by updating their computer hardware. While “Plan A”
fell apart due to the ‘interesting’ logistics of MTS, “Plan B” has done us
nicely and has simplified our internal IT structure. Thanks Carolyn and Carthy!
We also look forward to our Dell printer bonfire to which all are welcome.
Thanks to all
who took the time to read this and from all of us in Winnipeg we wish you a
great summer… which, due to cut backs in Government spending and the recession
in the US, has been reduced to one month…which has yet to be determined.
