From the Denizens of Delta
Travel, people!! Learn about different cultures. Take the
time to go and experience sun, sand, history, and architecture. Many of us are
guilty of feeling that travel is beyond our means. If you have in mind a wish to
travel to wherever your heart can take you, set a goal, make a plan, and adjust
your attitude. Achievement is all about growth and attitude.
The “Travelling Deltaburys” have been busy realizing
dreams. Planning, sacrificing, and digging deep into altering lifestyles all
adds to a person’s ability to achieve ones goals.
In Delta division, our administrator Ann and her husband
recently travelled to the Arizona desert in their RV.

Our CSR staff has also culminated endeavours requiring years of plans and
change. Jacklyn and her family recently spent two weeks in Maui.

Scott and his brother Lee travelled across the border for the first time to Las
Vegas for the time of their lives.

Our Division Manager Rick recently travelled to the eastern U.S. on business but
managed to squeeze in a few days in New York attending ball games, shows and
experiencing the wild vibe that is N.Y.C.

Our newest full time employee, Aman, will soon be travelling to the fraught
ridden country of India. Could be an eye opening experience for him given the
news of late.
Our Operations supervisor Jeff visited some old friends who had moved to the
Grand Cayman Islands. The pictures made us all envious.

Lastly your intrepid reporter Tim and his wife had an absolutely fabulous time
in Cuba. The price was right. The beaches made of talcum powder. The crystal
clear, turquoise, bath temperature waters let them actually watch schools of
fish swim by as they lounged on the beach. The resort was clean, big, fun, and
beautiful. This has surpassed any other holiday destination they have been to. A
lot of history to be enjoyed if you can tear yourself away from the beach.
We are all people of moderate means who believe in hard
work, fun, planning, growth, and learning. We can only wish for everyone the
opportunity to realize your dreams with the same values we share.
See the world and all its incredible wonders, have fun, be
amazed, and as always…keep your stick on the ice and keep your groin
off the ice.
Tim
Core Values:
At GWC there is a lot of talk and focus on our
Core Values and what they represent and while I could tell you a lot of what
they represent, I had a hard time naming them all. That’s when Rick turned
me to an acronym that was used during their last trip to Edmonton and that
was CHEWE;
Continuous
Improvement and Learning,
High
Ethical Behavior,
Excellence
In Relationships,
Work
Hard, Work Smart and Have Fun,
Exceptional
Service,
Excellence In
Relationships:
All of our communications with our customers lead us towards building our
relationships with them. The friendly exchanges that allow us to get to get
to know them as people, their likes, dislikes, traits in general and we get
to know them very well. These people become closer to us and we get to call
them friends. The more you watch our customers, the more this shows. People
walk into our building with smiles on their faces, genuinely happy to see
you. The first questions out of their mouth are almost never “Is my product
in? How is my order?” it’s “How’s the family? Watch last nights game? How
are the kids?”
There are many examples of this but the best I
could think of would be Dennis Howes and his relationship with Great Western
Containers. He a supplier, not a customer, but a relationship one way or the
other, that has grown beyond the shop. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting
Dennis on several occasions; he has been close to many in our company and
will continue to be. Golf games, hockey games, dinners, he has often
supported us with his companionship and genuine friendship to our company. A
close relationship with a customer (this case a supplier) has many benefits
to us as a company but the real value is what is gained outside of work,
away from talking about buckets. It’s out of the shop when you realize that
person is a good friend to you. Dennis Howes has provided decades of Great
Service and been a Great Friend to us, to GWC and I imagine most people he
has any dealings with. He has officially retired as of Friday but he was and
still is valued beyond his occupation, we wish him all the best and thank
him for all the time he has spent with us!
On A Side Note:
I would also like to mention our charitable contribution for Christmas this
year will be towards the Empty Stocking Fund. We raised a total of $1987.20
at our golf tournament this year which will be set towards them!
