Foundation For Success
Nils and Sylvia Bodtker launched the beginnings of Great Western Containers in 1979 with the purchase of a small oil and chemical drum reconditioning company. The company had annual sales of $150,000 and 12 employees.
Ten years later the pair bought the western operations of Vulcan Packaging Ltd., and the Calgary company's annual sales grew from $1.75 million to $9 million. Today, through an entrepreneurial determination and commitment, Great Western Containers has grown to over 200 employees with 9 plants across Canada.
"Nils and Sylvia have built this business by believing and trusting in their people as well as themselves," states Great Western Containers Sales & Marketing Leader, Ken Chisholm. "Their business strengths and positive energy are very inspiring and they've always recognized the potential in people. That's why Great Western Containers is such a fantastic company."
